our christmas tree is up in mossy shed
never has a christmas caused so much debate amongst my clan...
and the tree was no exception.
however, i am pleased to report,
despite the odd bemoaning about lack of greenery and lighting
(the latter due to little olive gnawing through the only string of lights i had),
it would appear that my 'lovely lot' have located their rose colored, handcrafted, thrifty specs...
so for this year
(and one year only, i am told by my nearest and dearest)
we have ourselves
a 'whatnot' gleeful tree to fit in with my handcrafted, secondhand year
she is hoping you can find your rose colored specs, if not pop next door and borrow your neighbors.... pleaseeeeee ~ Tif

The most beautiful christmas tree ever and I think she might have to stay in your house all year round.
She is far too pretty to only have around for a month.
Tif you are one clever sausage.

she is ...unique...no, honestly thats very creative, love how you have tied the deer with white yarn. and knitting needles and empty wooden spools make perfect ornaments!
Wooooow, your chritmas tree is beautiful!!!
so cool, that should be in a mag
Just beautiful!
Ah, so sweet, yet so sad to think this may be it's only outing! Surely it can be the second tree next year, if the family insist on another...?!
Lovely work... as always.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!
Absolutely beautiful christmas-tree.
Love it!!!
No rose tinted glasses necessary. That is gorgeous!
Tif, I love LOVE love it! Xxxxxxxxxx
Looks totally splendid to me and I'm not wearing tinted glasses of any shade!
And so completely and utterly "Dottie Angel"! Gosh, you are lucky to have such compliant housemates.....
Here's to a jolly, happy week
D x
very creative!
Ajj lalalalalaik it!!!!
I think it's the coolest, prettiest and most creative christmas tree I've ever seen! Well, I don't think there is one picture on your blog I don't love, you have an amazing style:) Have been watching your pictures on flickr for a while, finally I made the way to your blog too
Tove
I L-O-V-E the tree!
I adore your tree! I wish that I could get some rose colored spectacles for my husband, he always has to have a real christmas tree. I have always wanted to make one and he always turns his nose up at it. Last year I almost had him, he was going to make me a wooden one, then I decided we didn't have enough time.
Anyways, your tree is lovely!
I'm a newcomer to your, I think this is beautiful!
Who knew how festive doilies and deer could be? I adore the lanky yellow gal, and I'm sure she appreciate how sturdy your yarn is!
Bonne Tannenbaum!
p.s. You wouldn't believe it BUT my word verification is SANTE! Tis the season!
Fantastic!
your x-mas tree makes my heart sing and the pot with dots is so beautiful; just little snowflakes. Tomorrow I truly have to embellish
my big X mas tree. I feel so inspired after seeing this ^*^
Miss Ringlet just took one look and exclaimed, "That is the awesomest tree in the whole world!" and has demanded one of same in her room, "but make it pink."
It really is "The Best Tree Ever!" (as Spongebob might say.) I'm glad to see you have taken extra precautions in strapping in the deer...slippery hooves and wobbly legs have they...safety first.
Im loving the pot cover! Did you make? Who wouldnt love it! Id hate to be the one to unravel those animals when the festive season is over. You tied them up good Tif.
Oh it is lovely! I love the colours!
Oh wow, I love it!! Is that a knitted pot cover (is that the proper name??). I love the way the deer are tied on as well. A very clever way to use up all those cute notions you pick up at op-shops through the year. You've combined Christmas + crafting in the best way!
Wow that is so pretty, it makes mine look a little pathetic.
you are most certainly brilliant and inspiring..lovely gleeful tree!!
well, your blog is always a pleasure to the eye:) from the great crochet work to the house, it is always worth a visit. today this is a special post for me, because I do not like christmas trees, but I now have a small child at home and I feel obligated to renovate the concept of christmas tree and get one of my own. yours is inspiring:)
lovely little handcrafted gleeful tree :)
I think it is stunningly beautiful. It has made what has been a chaotic day a little easier. Thanks for making me smile
I love it, I wanted to spray last years dead tree white or silver but when i suggested this last week my kids did not seem amused....I'll show them this and hope to convince them!x
Your tree is amazing! I love it.
I had to comment once again now that your tree has been officially unveiled and blogged for all to meet. This beauty of a tree is truly spectacular, a feast for all eyes, a sweet joy to behold and so on and so absolutely gorgeous!! :) And yes, I was breathing harder when I met her for the first time but no, I was not drooling. :)
I LOVE the tree. Absolutely, positively. I'm sad that we have a boy Seahawks tree. I want THIS tree.
this is the best tree i've seen in awhile...so creative and beautiful. love it!
Pffft...rose colored specs are totally unnecessary! That is one of the most amazing trees I've ever seen. It's such a great work of art and the colors just pop. I love it.
And, the crocheted cushions in the post below. The colors are fabulous.

oh what a fabby gleeful lot you are!!! of course i was silly to doubt you... so glad you did not need to rummage around the kitchen drawer trying to locate your rose colored specs.
obviously you are so full of gleefulness that my little tree has been accepted as perfectly 'a okay' for a christmas tree.
i have told our little tree and it is most delighted to hear of such a 'gleeful' response to it's lack of twinkly lights and greenery
and before i head up to bed, i must just say... my clan were not a 'push over'. no siree, i had to stand my ground, become 'deaf' to the cries of mutiny and forge ahead in the knowledge that a dead branch from the yard could become a handcrafted gleeful 'whatnot' tree
Tif x
that's a great tree!
I'm so jealous. Whenever I try to do something like that it looks like a 4 year old's art project. That is probably the most awesome tree I've ever seen.
oh,

!
I just know that when your Mama was potty training you she called everyone to see what you just made...because that is how terrific you are! I love it. You are such an inspiration to all who are lucky enough to find you. xox
It is a triumph, from the crocheted? flowerpot up! Happy days...
that's fabulous Tif! very festive!
Oh, by the way Tif, there's a link on my blog to here saying I'm joining your challenge.
She is a beauty who could be adorned to suit any occasion. :) Blessings, Tammy
It works, it works! I actually asked my husband to save a little bare tree which I could paint white, but have I done it yet? Is it likly? :(
So now you've inspired me to have a go, Tif. Thanks.
I can understand your family's reaction, it's quite something different than your 'normal' Christmas tree'. But this is so original and beautifully executed that I'm sure that next year they'll be begging to set it back up :)
Absolutely Bloody Brilliant!
Ah, she's a beauty. No need for that snow in a can malarkey either.
That is really beautiful. fantastic. lovely. sweet. inspiring. thrifted. woolen. light. spacious feeling... ao many words. Ive had the idea t spraypaint some branches, but I love the ornaments you have made and selected, cotton reels especially! :D
the Beautiful photos grabbed me.
and
I know this is Off topic, but
I am new to this blog....and you may have answered this already- sorry-
Your black boots look comfy, are they? and what kind are they?
Thank you.
rebecca
But it's just wonderful!!! I love it.... and I'm thinking the clan might secretly love it too. Next year will be the telling ;) K
It is charming, wonderful colours and so imaginative!
Too pretty to only have up at Christmas, if it's up all the time your family will surely come to love it too!!
it is lovely! I was thinking of doing something similar. I've always been a little on the quirky side myself ... it's sort of expected. Right now I have a tree that looks a bit like a Charlie Brown tree, but with no decorations on it (due to 3 cats). I bought it long ago as a laugh. Oh, I could put the kitties toys on it! What a great idea! would never have thought of it had I not been following your blog! thanks for the inspiration! love your blog!
WOOOW! What a cool idea and how totally stunning! This should definatley be in a magasin!!
Love your pot holder as well!
xxBlueberrypie
oh, i adore it! but i would be sad about the lights too.... maybe someone has a string you could BORROW????
Lovely. I think you should have it up all year and tweak it for different seasons. I love that you used a card of buttons as an ornament.
what fun!!
i am so head over heels in LOVE with your tree...
Oh my heart be still.............this is amazing!
oh you are quite the most loveliest readers... thank you again for your 'gleeful' comments regarding the whatnot tree :)
and lilly,
my boots are by London Fly, they are in fact teal colored and most befitting a crafter of a certain age... can't talk highly enough of them :)
MAGNIFICENT!!!
The tied up animals are just killing me, ingenius. Fabulous tree and love the base.
I put on my rose colored spectacles every morning and they have served me well! I love your tree, and have been working on a bare-branch beauty myself. Mine is painted silver, and potted in a galvanized bucket. Now I just have to decorate it....
