i do like a bit of serendipity
and of late,
serendipity appears to find me wherever i look.
last weeks serendipity moment went a little like this
the lovely Jennette leaves a comment on my facebook wall,
mentioning her peachy store
amd so i ventured forth with my friend Marjan.
not only did we find the most wonderful vintage emporium
but a new thrifty friend and a roll of spiffy vintage paper.
i marvel that only 3 days before finding my little roll of paper
i had stood in our small front hall
and felt quite distressed at the nakedness of our front door
after 4 years of living in mossy shed.
and 3 days later,
i stumble across the perfectly perfect solution
i have noted our 'fully clothed' front door,
has gone unnoticed by my lads of three.
i have come to the conclusion this can only be
because the shed has become
all a 'bit of a blur of florals' everywhere they look
and thus, they are no longer able to see it
nice to see the mossy shed entry!
a wonderful entrance. love your clogs Xx
Oh saw the said pesky gnome passing by my garden yesterday!! the kitten girls booboo and roobarb saw him off!! Hope you are resting and rejuvenating well!! Best crafty wishes Vintage Betty Zee
What an ingenious idea, and one I'd like to put to use. Our doors have panels in them as well. Hmmm. Anyway, thanks for the laugh about your boys (men) not noticing the new door garb yet. I always buy floral ANYTHING, and my family has probably been lost in the blur as well. :)
You make my day happy, just visiting here!
Hi there. I have only recently discovered you and have fallen in love with your style. I mentioned finding you to my daughter and she being an angel herself, arrived at my house today (my 54th birthday), with a lovely berry cobbler and your book. It's been the perfect birthday with family, friends and flowers (and of course my new dottie angel book). Thank you for sharing your cheerful, creative ideas, beautiful photos and thrifty finds (I'm a fellow thrifter myself). I am planning to spend this evening in my big red chair with a good cup of tea and my new dottie angel book....Karen
just too too darling!! Perfection!
Love from NJ!!
How funny that your sons didn't even notice. It does look most spiffy indeed! Lovely idea.
I love, love, love your front door!
There is no way known that it could go unnoticed in my own shed!!
Love the front door. I would write on that chalkboard things like.....candles out, stove turned off, lights off.......got keys......all those things that need reminding.
I very muchly adore your newly clothed front door! Serendipity is a wonderful thing, especailly when it leads to such loveliness!
Have I told you that I love your heart? Thank you so much for all the inspiration for things spiffy and wonderful! With hugs from Alaska.
That front door has the best behind I've ever seen! ;)
Girl you have done it again!!! WOW WOW WOW. Is all I can say. You are amaizing and dont let anyone else tell you other wise!!!! You go gurl!!! Love the hall way it rocks!!!
Your door is indeed peachy, as for those Mossy Shed boys, they're boys, I have some of them and they don't notice stuff it's just not on their radar!
Your door looks fab Tif. Gorgeous paper. Be careful of those pesky gnomes. xxx
It looks lovely! My front door is an old panelled one, but the panels have been covered up with hardboard somewhere in the mists of time (1970). Your lovely door makes me determined to yank the board off and paper the panels, though I fear Mr door may not survive the board yanking - he is elderly.
love this post xx
Such happy florals. Looks like a lovely entrance. Cute!
OH the door looks real inviting now! very pretty:-)
Oh Tif, here I have been worrying madly about whether the creativity will-o-the-wisp had willed off somewhere else, and departed from mossy shed. Now I see I have worried in vain. You just need a new source of craftiness to inspire you! The door is fabby, truly fabby. And if you feel abandoned by that will-o-the-wisp again, I do recommend Julia Cameron's artist way books. They have recharged me over the years, and now my favorite nephew is working through them. Happy making! daisy fleabane
Oh, my goodness. I love your spiffy new door. What a fabulous idea. I'm on my way out to find chalk paint! Jamie V in MT
You're blog is such an inspiration! I really do adore your style. Great job Dottie.
i love it, really love it! i love your style, it's so charming, so fresh :)
fun!! - front doors are often overlooked..
It's perfect! I'm sorry they didn't notice...maybe write them a chalkboard message, like "Hey you lads, didn't you notice this spiffily dressed door?" I think it looks fantastic! Of course now I'm eyeballing my own doors all critical-like, thinking of places I can put some wallpaper. :)
Super sweet all round, lovely as always peeking around this blog, love Posie
Tif...I can't believe your lads haven't noticed the beautiful new door decor. I think it looks absolutely cozy!
i say tif, spiffified has just got to be the word of the year for me, to be used on any and every spiffy ocassion. gratefully violet-maie
Oh my goodness did that door turn out well. I think my favorite part of the whole makeover is that the door is not entirely done in the feminine floral, but it is balanced by the strong blank of the chalkboard. Awesome!
Oh, I love that front door! So smart. :)
Looks fab! I was browsing eBay and saw the most beautiful clogs.....
Immediately I thought of you!
curses...now even my front door is looking dull.
Can you just stop raising the bar....!
oh I love what you did with this door! Nice place for notes and the pretty paper makes it so lovely. BTW I just became your latest follower!
I have a two panel door on our bathroom which is off the entry way and I've been wanting to do something similar. The big difference is that you did yours and I will probably continue to think about doing mine for months to come!
I'm pretty sure that I'm officially a 'professional procrastinator'.
I really like how yours turned out.
adorable! love the floral paper!
This is a great D.I.Y. I love the addition of the chalk paint so you can leave a goodbye (or hello!) message!
I love the door (and gnomes!) :) Makes me wish my door was panelled so...but sadly, mine is just plain and straight with a window on the top. It's okay though, I know what I can look forward to one of these days! :)
your kindness and your comments are truly most spiffy and without doubt i know i am most fortunate to have you visit my world with your 'bees knees-ness' :)
happy belated birthday Karen!!
What a brilliant idea. I am looking at my front door with new eyes!
