on friday Our #4 turned 12.
i noted he was full of beans
whilst i was full of aches...
i marveled at how being 12 was rather wonderful
one appears to have no worries
nor CCSI's to slow one down
in the evening Our #1 insisted on taking me to the thrift store
she said it would do me good to get out and about.
i think right there dearest readers, shows why i shall miss her so.
she drove me there,
found a cart to prop me up
directed me to the household department
and left me to it,
whilst she went to the clothing aisles.
never have i been so glad my thrift store has trolleys.
mine served several purposes as i hobbled around...
to replace my need for a zimmer frame
and to also hold the growing pile of treasures
upon returning home to the shed
i noted to Our #4
that indeed his birthday may be lacking a cake,
but what it lacked in cake
it made up for in thrifty finds...
a Stelton vacuum jug by Erik Magnussen
and a rather peachy retro quilt
for the couch.
i then broke out my Cadbury's Caramel bar from hiding
and shared it with the birthday boy.
to celebrate his 12 years
which seems so much longer,
and to celebrate my thifty finds
which always seem so much sweeter
when found thrifting with Our #1
she is taking things slowly with Miss Ethel and thanking you most kindly for your CCSI support ~ Tif

Happy birthday to your #4!
Happy bday No1! I am always soo melancholy on my sons bday, he's older therefor I am older ;)
Your thrifty finds are fantastic, I love the colours of the quilt! I hope you are feeling much better very soon. How lucky you are to have such lovely kids who know you so very well & know just the trick to help lift your spirits...

You make me want to go a thrifting dear Tif...
I do wish my number one had been a thrifty sort of fellow...
But alas it was not meant to be...
That's why I was graced with number 2...
Just need to wait a few more years till he can drive...
great finds, im sure you hear this all of the time mrs tif, but i do think your house is rather wonderful
Take very good care of your special self and thank you for all the lovely posts, my little dog and I went "Challenge Shopping" tonight - leave for the walk at dusk, just as all the shops are closing and gaze safely at current fashion trends and color stories through the glass, and not for too long as Snowy is always finding something new to sniff and dislikes lingering at shop windows ... result, Lovey ideas and inspirations with no expenditure!
i have a question: the dress in the picture on your right sidebar for your photo album, what pattern is that? i love that dress.
You are a gem! and fancy sharing your stashed away Cadburys :0) that is true motherhood!
I am sad about your CCSI but so glad to see Olive (what a cool name for a JR!) - my little dog Bella (hence Bellabag!) is also a JR though a rough haired. She is adorable and as you say they have such cute little ways - my Bella has just turned 4 now - I don't think there is much change from her being 1. I hope this doesn't prick your bubble!
I made a shabby fabric flower to go on my thrifted jacket .... I am very pleased :0)
Blessings to you and your family
Ooooooh lovely lovely quilt. Well done you! How wonderful that your thrift stores have departments and trolleys. Charity Shops in the UK tend to be much smaller affairs.
I am thinking (not for the first time) that your thrift stores are much more peachy than ours here in SC! I am green with envy over all of your finds... but, good for you! Hope you feel better soon. Colleen.
Hi there Dottie, I just found your blog and it's light and fanciful flavor made me happy! Happy Birthday to you too! Suzie
thank you all most kindly :)
britt, here is the link to my high hopes dress
it's a pattern i made up and one day have high hopes of making them to sell :)
Dearest Dottie, I was so busy looking at that sensational quilt when my eyes drifted to the right a little & I saw that tin... Oh my!! I have the same tin here in my home in Australia. I bought it in a second hand store in a tiny country town back in 1999 on my honeymoon. I have been using it to store my tea bags & I often wonder of it's history / past life, to think you have it's sister tin. Love to think of it in your home surrounded by all that peachiness;))
fab thrifting... just wandered through selfridges in london and those jugs are for sale at around £60! lovely blog.xx
