forsaken little souls...

it would appear that i have gone from
rescuing 'thrift store slips' from the racks of despair
to
saving 'forsaken souls' from the shelves of despair

it would appear i cannot walk past a shelf of figurines
without them talking to me,
notifying me of the color they would best suit
and how they are very good at keeping their little eyes closed

it would appear i may have lost my tiny mind but
i am going to take a chance with a little gathering of thrifted
'forsaken souls' that now reside upon my studio mantlepiece
and add them
to my little store on friday...

there will be pretty birdies

there will be a wise owl

there will be thee deer

there will be a little leaf

and there will also be other 'rejects',
including a pesky squirrel,
all busy drying in my laundry room as i tippity type

each little forsaken soul comes with their very own doily, button card and cotton spools...
thus, these little sweet 'outcasts' can perhaps look forward to putting their days of abandonment on the 'shelves of despair' behind them...

she has had a 'christmas crafting' epiphany that makes her heart sing out with 'kitschy gleeness' ~ Tif

every one of your post makes me laugh out loud. My (very serious British) husband gets very worried. I read him this present post and guess what? He smiled, yes! You made him smile. What a performance. Well done

Hmmm... I shall be lurking in your store on Friday it seems (I'll be the one in the overcoat with the crazy eyes).

That little yellow birdy wants to live here. I can tell.

Love these! So smart.

Oh no you don't Dottie Angel! I will not be convinced, swayed, seduced, or otherwise pulled into your thrifty, crafty mama web. I will not go out into the junk shops and pick up orphaned figurines (no matter how much they stare at me balefully), I will not bring them home and paint them all shiny and bright, oh no I wont! No matter how you slice it and serve it my dear, that is a far too slippery slope for me to go a-wandering. Just saying.

Well Tif, I think you must have a magic paintbrush that you are dib dabbing about the place, turning outcasts into little treasures!

you never fail me, you never faulter from the path of 'dottie angel' and you never 'bat a eye' at Tif's epiphanies :)

i think i love you all right this minute

and lola nova... it is a slippery slope so hold on, 'cause you know you're going down it :)

Those little forsaken souls certainly take on a different life when they are painted in vibrant, solid colors. Love the variety of little tidbits that come with each one. What a great idea! :) Tammy

Oh what a talent to create such cool colorful little design objects out of those rejects! I'm a pretty avid thrifter myself but I'd never have thought of this... Love them a LOT, especially the deer, bird and leaf. I will be visiting your shop!

Since I saw Blair's black painted halloween ornaments I have been rescuing reject chappies.I hope to spray them all Christmassy type colours and let them enjoy the festive season.

i am still blown away by the effects of a couple coats of glossy paint on a figurine! i feel it could get pretty scary all the things i am wanting to douse in paint now. thankfully, having 3 children under 6 keeps me from painting on whim....

do you use spray paint?

lovely! can't wait to see more...

Can it be that your Artful Blogging issue is finally out?! I thought I recognized that yarn on the cover. Excuse me while I pout childishly in the corner and turn green with envy. Congrats Tif, you definitely deserve it!

....I don't remember how I found your blog, but I'm so happy about it!

I love the way you write and your photos are just so well composed.....love them! I featured one of them on my blog yesterday!

I feel the same way about furniture that I pass at the thrift store....as you do about all of these little figurines....which are fantastic by the way!.....The furniture talks to me too and tells me what color it wants to be and the new life it wants to live.......

.....I truly enjoy it over here:)
