little olive and her high hopes...

ever since little olive made the front page of Pedlars as dog of the week she has aspired to greater things.
apparently, she tells me, it has always been inside of her,
feeling the need to perform, even from a young age.
i was a little iffy to this piece of information so she encouraged me to look back over her photo album

upon perusal of her baby pictures i noted that yes indeed, she did appear to look rather sweet, but was 'sweet' enough for a cut throat industry, i asked her

she then told me she had been practicing her modelling shots with used dog for guidance.
she is thinking that catalogue modelling sounds a tres thrilling life...

upon critique of her shots, she has been informed her front legs are letting her down in an industry that values long limbs

she has not allowed that to dampen her spirits though,
continuing to have high hopes...
for now it appears that little olive is working on her portfolio, thinking her future lies in the film industry.
i am doing all i can to encourage her hopes although between you and me dearest readers, i'm not sure she would be any good living life on the road with her suitcase and blanket.
she likes the comforts of the shed a little too much...
but i haven't voiced this to her as it would seem a little unkind.
so far her portfolio consists of

despair and sadness

love and friendship

masked and heroic

pitiful and pathetic

serious and tough

tragic and Shakespearean

frightened and lonely

action and thriller

epic long winded novel turned into film thingy

horror and comedy

she is thinking little olive may be closer to the big time then she had thought ~ Tif

Too adorable! This made my day, so cute!

I do believe there may be a place for Little Olive in the tragic and Shakespearean catagory because the theater doesn't require long legs. She does appear to have been in character in that snap. I say "shoot for the stars Little Olive."

Mine has a great line in Noble and Dignified, as well as Loyal But Really Hungry As Well. He also does Injured Pride extremely well when the cat is about.

If Dudley Moore can make it with little legs then the world is surely Little Olive's Oyster of Precious Pearly Things?

Love this post. Little Olive is precious - I was thinking that "action and thrilling" could also be "aloof and free-spirit" ;-) I really enjoy visiting your blog, though I just found you about a month ago. Keep on keeping on! Best, Leslie

Now come on Tif, she is a model in the making! You can tell from her portfolio that she has class and attitude - just what a model needs in this cut throat business. Regarding her limbs, she can always wear heals (make sure when you suggest this you re-affirm to her that you do not mean clogs as we all know what she did to them!).

suffragette said...

hello! i'm sheila. just wanted to say i nearly fell off my chair when i got to 'tragic and Shakespearean' - sadly, i must admit your dog is so much more photogenic than i am - i'm sure she'll go far! don't worry Olive, i'm a little short-limbed myself. what a little dote! (sorry, that's the irish in me, where they use 'dote' as a noun which means beautiful child.) :)

She is the most beautiful dog, I bet you are never lonely with her! The last few pictures made me laugh! x

How can I possibly be the first to comment on this wonderful post.

A brilliant career obviously awaits little olive and I trust you will guide her pawsteps and not let fame spoil her, were such a thing possible.

Some of my cats are even now viewing her portfolio and I fear it may give them ideas far above their station.

I'm sorry to say that I can't decide which is the more dottie- the angel or little olive...but perhaps there is so little to choose between yous that it doesn't matter? But little olive is terribly gorgeous- is the angel too????

Ange said...

She's a born star. But as always - can owe much of the gracious light bestowed upon her to the humble set designer ... N'est ce pas?

Hi Tif,

Little Olive certainly looks like she should be going to stage school. My woof woof, Buzz dog, is looking for a leading lady. I think they look like they would be great together in a feature film romcom. Perhaps we should get them together for an audition.

Loved this although I think maybe little Olive's human mother has a little too much time on her hands.Ha ha.

Dear Tif

Again, my heart has melted at Little Olives' photo session - please let her know, I think she is a natural. With the right agent, I am sure she could earn enough for her own keep as well as maybe a few skeins of yarn for her beloved owner??????

delighted that little olive and her high hopes have cheered your monday morn!
as to having too much time on my hands... that made me smile, yes indeed it would appear so, but what this story really tells is that i am a procrastinator extraordinaire... i have many things needing my attention but alas, i am easily distracted by things like little olive's budding film career which somehow seems terribly important compared to 5 loads of laundry and a need to fill my shop :)

Jenny said...

You are talking to the queen of procrastinators who has spent the morning doing everything that isn't on my list of must dos for today, let me see I have been making phone calls, reading blogs, searching for missing photos, wondering how to make the yucky old sofa look less yucky, and so it goes. But I do write a good list.

Jenny said...

And of course little Olive is soooo gorgeous she is a wonderful reason to procrastinate.

Oh sweet Olive...she is ready for the big screen!

Lola Nova said...

Little Olive,
We are pleased to inform you that your audition has merited a call back. As per the role in the slated feature film due for release in early 2011, we consider you a serious contender. Enclosed you will find the full screenplay and script. We have recently cast a new comer, Pony Girl, in the role of "child begging parents for dog of her own," and of course you have met the lead, Mr. Firth. We found the chemistry between the two of you to be quite palpable. We look forward to your next audition and suggest you pack your vintage suitcase for a bright future in Hollywood.
A 10% finders fee is standard practice.
Sincerely,
LN Promotions

Tif ~ i'm in fits of giggles with 'action and thriller', but 'horror and comedy' has me grasping my aching stomach... ;)

little olive is positively besides herself with excitement, i have told her that LN promotions has been in touch. used dog and all her wisdom has pointed out not to get too excited until we have it in writing and signed. but little olive can't contain herself, she has lept from stool to stool this morning working on her facial exercises :)

Such a sassy little beast.

I'd like to see her in a period piece, in thick ruffles and a touch of velvet, trotting about Victorian England.
