***************************
reason one:
its been over 11 years since we found you, abandoned twice with little hope, at a last chance shelter. you looked at me with those 'puppy pound' eyes, (just as you have every day since) and melted my heart.
reason two:
you taught 4 young children how to love a doggie, you gave them memories to take into their adult lives of 'our first family dog', something so simple and yet such a gift
reason three:
you wear a floral neckerchief
reason four:
you keep secrets better than anyone else i know
reason five:
you taught a pesky dog how to be a little less pesky and in return, said pesky doggie taught you in your twilight years to be a 'little pesky'
reason six:
when you spy a squirrel at the bottom of the yard, you still believe there is one half of a 2 year old greyhound inside of your aging 13 year old body
reason seven:
you fall over, but always pick yourself up
reason eight:
despite the odds stacked way way against you, nearly 5 months on you are thinking about changing your name from Used Dog to Miracle Dog and quite rightly so
reason nine:
you are without a doubt, the most preciously peachy second hand forsaken soul i have ever found
reason ten:
for nearly 12 years you have been my constant canine companion, my best friend, and my good fortune

she and Used Miracle Dog are thanking you most kindly for all the 'fingers, toes, paws, claws, wings and hooves' crossing over the past few months ~ Tif
What a lovely post! We once rescued a pup that had been to several homes and was only a few months old, they even named him Boomerang because he kept coming back ... We kept him and he was the most loyal and faithful friend you could have wished for. And of course, we renamed him xxx
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that our prayers helped. I ove that you call him "used dog" but I like miracle dog even better. Stay well sweet doggie.
ReplyDeleteWe also found a doggie abandoned, tied to a tree
ReplyDeletewith little trust left for humans
Now two years later on , he loves us just as we love him
You made me cry with this one!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that all those years ago Used Dog was patient enough to wait for his perfect family, and make sure to let those other people before you know that they were not the right family for him. Good Boy, Sunny!
awww, makes me wanta cry :...
ReplyDeleteLove these words so much *♥*
ReplyDeleteI loved this post about your Miracle Dog. He is beautiful! We, too, had a Miracle Dog. He was given a prognosis about "probably about 4 months"... and he lived happily and symptom free for 2 entire years! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
ReplyDelete<3
ReplyDeleteAwwww, lucky, lucky, lucky Miracle Used Dog to have found such a loving home and lucky, lucky, lucky family to have found such a wonderful dog.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Carol xx
Awe Tif, I'm so glad she is doing well.
ReplyDeleteIt beggars belief that beautiful animals such as Used Dog are abandoned not once but twice!!!
She was a very lucky girl to find you.
Wishing her continued good health! I can see why you fell for those eyes. :)

I've seen you use it before, but every time you say "used dog" I literally laugh out loud. This is such a sweet post that I hope makes everyone give used dogs a chance.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. I completely understand your love for your dog, I never knew what it felt like to love an animal until we brought home our little Georgie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She's, as all dogs are, a vital part of our family. Yay for Used Dog!
ReplyDeleteI had to choke back the tears reading this! I've only ever had pound puppies, and probably only ever will, so this is especially touching.
ReplyDeleteOh, and theres no better training than what an old dog can teach a young dog, and vice versa.
10 lovely reasons! X
ReplyDeleteOh how special is Miracle dog, how special are all our canine or feline friends, how they make our lives and our families lives complete. give Miracle dog a hug from me, best give Pesky dog one too!

Yes this post brings a lump to the throat especially reason seven; dear big doggie looks such a sweetie. One of my fave pictures of you is with Sunny (on the receiving end of a chin-scritch), both sitting on your divan? settee? (whatever cute name you have for your sofa!)
ReplyDeletelovely!

What a beautiful post! We said good bye this week to our Miracle Dog. He gave us 10 of his 13 years and everyday was a gift!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this I find myself mopping up the tears on my keyboard. What a sweet post about your sweet dog. They say there are no bad dogs, just bad owners...how lucky that you both found each other, someone else threw away a treasure, they just had no clue as to what they had!
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
oh, precious. I really really want a second-hand dog (as i call it). my husband says, just get one, but i'm a bit nervous. I'd love a chocolate coloured labrador. she has to be a girl who is willing to wear a scarf, and she has to be happy to be kind to my chooks. have a creative week. Jane x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post !! I also have a dog, I called him Cadeau (this means Present in French, (I'm French). Before him, I DID NOT WANT any dog, because of... many bad reasons: allergies, hair, paw prints everywhere, smell, etc. But since we found him in a street 6 years ago, life has changed at home. He is a real present !! He thanks us everyday, he is wonderful. I can even say Cadeau smells good :) I don't really know if my English is correct, but I hope you would have caught the idea !! Thanks for your lovely blog !
ReplyDeleteHooray for Used Dog - Bert & I are very delighted to hear a happy update on her health!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, what a sweet soul!! Lovely blog ~ I'm now following! So nice to "meet" you!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Anne ♥♥

ReplyDeleteI think used dogs are the best.
ReplyDeleteAw. You made me cry. I miss my used dog so.... he was my best friend. Aren't they just the best.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post. My son and I adopted a cat 9 years ago. I was concerned that she was 10, and too old, as my husband had suddenly died the year before. But Ethan, at 4, wanted the cat with the moustashe. She is nearly 19 now and continues to delight us everyday. .
ReplyDeleteThoughtfully,
Traci
we love dogs! just read the funniest post on FB comparing dogs and cats via a cat diary and a dog diary. Oh how I laughed - dogs are the most loyal of creatures!
