Tuesday, October 4

yesterday...

yesterday Little Olive sat in her suitcase staring at her twiddly bits attached to her blankie.
i sat at the kitchen knook table staring out the window at the arrival of Mr Autumn.

i noted to Little Olive that we were indeed a right old pair of old pants together.
for it was the 3rd of October and so far there was no sign of our dynamic keep fit regime starting.
we had prepped and planned for the first of the month and now 3 days into the month, nothing.
not a single ounce of 'keep fitting' going on between us.

she quite rightly pointed out it was mainly my fault.
i quite rightly pointed out, indeed it was, however i had a fine and dandy excuse.
to which she looked at me with the look of
"oh yes, and what would that be Tif?"
to which i replied
"Little Olive, as much as i wish to keep fit with the passion of a marathon runner, alas and alack, i cannot.
for the colour yellow is weighing heavily on my mind, distracting me nicely from matters of the heart and such is its distracting ways, it also appears good at distracting me from keeping fit"

i then proceeded to jolly Little Olive up with a hearty lively debate of the colour yellow, does one think a cupboard in my studio would benefit from a lick of its lovely sunny self and what were her thoughts on it.

where upon Little Olive proceeded with her usual trick of "if i can't see her, surely she can't see me", in the high hopes i would fizzle off and talk to some other poor unsuspecting critter in the shed

she is thinking Little Olive may not be volunteering to come to the paint store this morning ~ Tif

  5. DottieAngel, I love reading your bog. Your little Olive is adorable. I love that she makes her bed in a suitcase. I lost my little coco three years ago and her empty bed is still in my room....On to the lighter side,How was your book signing Friday? I am reading your book. Totally enjoying it. You signed it for me at The Creative Connection. I would like to send you something from my grandmothers collection of crochte pot holders. Where shall I send it ? I would love for you to have it. Till next chat....Angel

  6. Dear Tif and Olive, I am quite the opposite..... I do a "keep fit" class 5 times a week ! "Oh you show off" I hear you two say... well let me tell you, my house and many cuboards need a coat of yellow paint and my crafty fabric is all over every floor in the house. Something has to give, lets do what makes us happy ! lol sharon. x

  7. Exercise? Exercise? I'm with Olive, turn over and go to sleep and hope the thought will pass.
Our sunroom is yellow, when DH suggested it I thought, eurggggh, but we went ahead and I loved it (and so do the hoverflies who think it is one big yellow flower).

  13. Little Olive looks positively svelte so I'm sure that hiding her head & dreaming of biscuits is quite enough exercise for her! Oh...and painting things yellow is a particularly good way of burning up calories.....

  14. A little patch of yellow sound good n bright to me :o)

We have a little patch of yellow in our dining room (well, quite a big patch actually, but it didn't sit right in the telling), and it brightens my day no end, especially when mr sun doesn't want to come out to play :o)

Little Olive is looking absolutely adorable as usual...she is without doubt a superstar in our eyes :o)

Have a great and peachy day Tif.

  15. Dear Tif and Little Olive, I got the Uppercase bookbundle as a gift for myself, and the dottie angel book was my first introduction to your lovely world! The book is very inspiring, and as a doxie-lover I must say Little Olive is my favorite. :) I'm crocheting a little blanket of love for my niece now because it seemed like such a nice gift (one I hadn't considered yet before reading your book). Thanks for being peachy!

  16. I wouldn't worry too much a visit to the paint store is just like keeping fit anyway. All that thinking and lifting paint tins, better than a gym!

  21. Surely Hubert would show a little more interest in the yellow cupboard. Perhaps Olive wanted a green cupboard...
