the creative connection...

on the one hand, i am not cut out for a life where you jet off to foreign climes, meet a gazillion new faces and hob nob. but on the other hand, an itty bitty bit inside of me sees past Mr Doubter and Mr Scaredy Pants and sees the bit where it is simply quite thrilling to be travelling to do a market place stall, sit amongst other fine authors and best of all, meet peachy folks such as yourselves, dearest readers.

so with that in mind, i sallied forth to the drugstore yesterday to buy me a bottle of nail polish in an attempt to freshen up my appearance. my eyes alighted upon the perfect granny coral orange polish right at the back of the shelf. as i was riding high, on a roll, i heeded my adopted auntie and soul sister's wise words and stood bedazzled in the make up aisle. after much indecision due to major bedazzlement, i targeted a green eyeliner as the little bit of miracle to make me look tres peachy on the long days and nights ahead.

once home, i discovered the clumpy coral nail polish was not only the colour a granny would love but was also as old as a granny. my toe nails had looked better before with the two month old chipped teal they had been sporting prior to my meddling. application of the green eyeliner left me with no doubt it was more suited to a halloween event and not an author book signing.

and so it is dearest readers, come tomorrow early morning, i shall sally forth 'as is' with a case full of dottie angel wares (just room for 4 pairs of granny knickers), my exciting travel assemble of layered florals and pinstripes topped off with cardi and handstitched elbow patches and 'a heart and a head' full of high hopes for the coming five days. i have informed Mr Doubter and Mr Scaredy Pants there is no room at the Inn where i am going...

if you are heading to The Creative Connection, she would love for you to say "hello Tif" and will do her utmost with Frankly Frank's help, to bring home some photos to share ~ Tif

  7. Oh yes Tif, pesky varnish, I had fun with some recently - combination of 'getting-on-a-bit' lack of flexibility and less than perfect eyesight resulted in somewhat less than perfectly peachy toenails. I think next time I'll get our Amy (cat) to help..........
Enjoy your trip to pastures new, I bet there will be lots of simply spiffy readers waiting excitedly for you.

I wish my big ole pregnant self could be there, but I'm sure being 8 months pregnant with hives would be most uncomfortable!!

  21. I wish that I could meet you and tell you in person, but we are very far away. Nonetheless, a little package of dottie angel magic arrived on our doorstep yesterday and brightened our afternoon. The book is so lovely! My little daughter especially loves the tale of Mr. Shark and "oooh"-ing and "aahhh"-ing over the photos of little Olive. thanks for being you. Wishing you safe travels!

  23. I returned last night from a long trip, helping my father go through open heart surgery. I wandered up the lane today to check my mailbox and what should greet me but your lovely, lovely book! Oh Tif! It's gorgeous and you should be so proud. I've only had a minute to flip through it and noticed your son is named Levi. So is mine! :) I'll be sitting in my favorite cushy chair with a cup of tea and reading it cover to cover this evening. Charming. Absolutely charming! xxxooo

Your booth preparations look just so totally inviting - I would just be drawn in to have a closer look and a sigh of wishfully thinking you'd get lost at my house for a week or so to doilify us. I am enjoying your book soooooooo much. It is all that I hoped it would be. So just be "you" in this moment at the show and all be well, and all shall be well.

  34. Have a good trip!

Random observation, and question: I've noticed in your blog just the clogs I am looking for- wooden soled, traditional, with a colorful leather upper. I had some years ago, and can't find them now! Where, oh where, do you find them? It would just make my day if you would share this bit of information!

  35. Tif - it was my deepest pleasure to meet you yesterday and score me a little dottie love. I'm tickled to have one of your little satchels and your books in my home now. Oh to the search for those peachy red shoes. Thank you for coming to Minnesota and reaching beyond Mr. Scaredy Pants and Mr. Doubter. You were nothing but Ms. Delightful!

  36. your makeup fiasco is the reason I only shop at department store counters. You get help and can try shades on and if all is still a fiasco when you get home...you can return. The extra cost is soooo worth it and the quality is usually so much nicer too. Just my two cents worth. I am sure you look adorable and sophisticated at your show!!!
