note taking...

before i hoppity skip to a 'day at the office' several things to note...

note one: when thinking up a cunning plan to make peace with ones man in the way of a marmalade sandwich, t'would be wise to actually check the larder cupboard first. upon inspection just now, i see it is bare of marmalade. on closer inspection of what else i can rustle up apart from my chocolate spread, i have spied a lettuce leaf destined for Speedy the Tortoise. now i am torn between Speedy having his breakfast and my man being offered a lettuce 'peace' sandwich


note two: my 'simply sampler' blanket is coming along a treat, albeit slowly. i have noted it is going a little wonky in places but i am thinking this will add 'charm' to the finished sweetie. however if you are waiting on me to do a bobbly how-to i fear the wait maybe longer than you may wish to sit and twiddly your Mr Hook. but no worries, for the lovely Cuckoo has done a marvelous job at showing us all how to achieve a lovely bobbly crochet. i am actually in awe of her fabby tutorial because not only has she done a tres peachy job of it but Cuckoo wrote this with babe in arms, and i am talking about a few days old babe in arms with little ones running around too! i think that is brilliantly brilliant and worthy of a gold sticky star in my books

note three: i am not one for buying US magazines often, however there is one magazine i have come across recently which i must tell you has me rather giddy. it is called Anthology and features creative and inspiring folks and interiors with soul. every page is a treat to look at and it is beautifully presented. i am most happy to have found a US magazine which ticks all the right boxes for me


note four: i noted this morning around the same time as noting my lack of marmalade, that Little Olive and her crocheted blanket have become the best of friends and seeing her all slightly 'tubby' in her little nest of crocheted goodness makes me smile. nothing quite like a furry friend.

    Dear Tif, Little Olive is one lucky little fur kid to have that lush peachy blankie to cuddle up in. You're a very good dog-mom. I went to the most amazing yarn shop in Portland, "Yarn Garden".. have you been there when you're "down under" in Portland visiting? You simply must go there. I got a basket full of Drops Alpaca in the most pretty colors.. do pop over to my blog and see what inspired me.. :-)

    You do tickle me young lady! We’ve run out of marmalade too (some Seville oranges out of the freezer wouldn’t quite do the job) but I found some scrummy black cherry jam which I managed to force myself to eat. Of course Speedy should get the lettuce but hold the bread.
    Little Olive with her lovely chubby belly, she really does score on the cuteometer.
    Glad you are enjoying your hooking, a Japanese flower lap quilt I’ve been making just blossomed!

    Noted... each and every one! I'm wondering exactly what you could possibly have done to upset your man to the extent of having to make him a marmalade sandwich! And now you've got me thinking about marmalade which is cruel as it's hard to come by in the land of sun! Bobbly crochet... love it! Anthology... have to check it out! Little Olive... sublime!     Olive looks adorable snuggled up in the peachy blanket with one ear up and one ear down!

    I'm not sure if a lettuce sandwich will have quite the same peace making properties as a marmalade one; let's hope you don't need to resort to it :)

    What a lovely girl you are Tif! thank you for linking to my bobbly tutorial, it's been lovely to have some new visitors, you do have nice friends. And what you said about me was so uplifting, I was having a bit of a looooong day but I went to bed with a broad grin. Fingers crossed I haven't missed anything out on the tutorial otherwise there'll be some wierdy bobble blankets out there! Mind you there's perfection in imperfection so I take comfort in that. The wonky bits in your simply sampler blanket will be adorable xxx

    Little Olive looks snug as a bug in a rug! She is a very lucky pooch to have a mom that makes her blankies. My Johnny B prefers a crochet blankie also. He is the kind of guy that likes to be covered up and preferably in my bed, in which he can see out of 3 windows..so the crochet allows him to be covered AND still see outside at the same time! Genius! This one came from a crazy lady who made them while drinking, she had a ton! But it is wearing out and I don't know her any more. I need to get busy!

    The preview of the Anthology magazine looks wonderful! I was so happy to wake up on a sleepy (rainy) Saturday to see that Tif had given us some Friday Notes. If you ever start a new (additional) blog called "Nothing But Little Olive" I will be the first to follow...

    Oh Tif! Instant inspiration! Only minutes after reading your post you could find me today starting something bobbly. Due to the lack of wool (because we are moving and everything is already in the container on its way abroad I just found enough for a potholder but as you can imagine the process of bobbling along and looking at it makes ma already very happy!

    Oh Tif! That's a terrible calamity, no marmalade, there should always be marmalde, lettuce just doesn't do it in quite the same way!!! I'm sure you managed to make a marvelous 'peace' sandwhich in the end.............just hope the tortoise didn't go hungry LOL!

    yes, little olive is fully grown. she is hoping her legs will get a bit longer but at nearly 2 yrs of age i am thinking she is going to need more than hope :)

    and Cuckoo, i am so delighted to have featured your tutorial, i meant every word of it... and no worries, most folks figure things out whilst they go along. trust me, my 'how-tos' are always containg a bit of this. keep smiling my dear :)

    Claire, little olive's blanket came from the thrift store, however the one i am working on is with a size 6.5 Mr Hook, when it is done i will share a bit more about what i did
