Monday, December 3

in the past three days...

1. i have woken up to snow...
2. had a power outage...
3. seen Santa walking down the street whilst buying fire wood because of power outage. (not fake beardy santa but the real thing, he smiled and waved straight at little old me and my wood pile).
4. had an even bigger dump of snow
5. discovered microwave popcorn is not the same as popcorn of old...it does not like to be strung as a garland.
6. created own popcorn garland for tree with the magic of crochet

7. eaten delicious pink owls cookies courtesy of our #2

8. jazzed up old thrift store coat with a handcrafted brooch...and decided to make more for presies. ("and when might that be, oh 'Tif of little time' ")

9. huge amounts of rain and wind pelting around the place.
10. have signed contracts with a buyer for our house...it's been a hell of a few weeks negotiating and until we get past inspection i am not celebrating...but if all goes according to plan we will be moving just after Christmas...("thank you up above")

phew ~ Tif
footnote : please do not uncross fingers or toes dear readers, until i give you the all clear...thank you :)

  1. Tif I don't know how to say this but Father Christmas isn't real. It was probably a funny old man you saw smiling at you.
I am jealous of your snow.
I want someone to make me biscuits.....

  3. no way! (the bit about the house, not father christmas) although i won't jinx it by getting excited for you yet.

  5. Of course there's a Santa! So long as you believe in the magic, there is a Santa. ;)

Fingers crossed for you! Now, that would be a great Christmas gift, wouldn't it.

You crafty women that can knit and crochet! {When I say 'you', I mean you and Amanda at Soule Mama.} I have garland envy!

I always notice your dishes - you have so many cute ones. I like your salt & pepper shakers - are they vintage?

  7. salt and pepper pots are courtesy of anthro...

thanks anna maria for the garland love...

i could if requested possibly try and bluff my way through a 'pattern' on the popcorn garland if requested...problem is i am kind of rubbish at writing 'crochet' down, i just make it up in my head as i go along...but maybe i should give it a go for later in the week...off to put my thinking cap on ;)

  11. a CANDY SWAP!!!!!!!!! oooh, my dear Laura that sounds like a very good swap..what do i do...what are the rules...i am all of a ditter again...

and yes you are quite right, i am crocheting and knitting everything in sight to avoid the dishcloths...which i have just unearthed in my 'cleaning up the studio' moment i had today.

2 dishcloths, 8 skeins of yarn and 22 days til Christmas, ummm...this is not looking good :)

  12. I am so jealous of your adorable tree... if I had ornaments like that I might actually bother to put up a tree! I'm also practicing the art of task avoidance and have absolutely **no** Christmas gifts. Still. Breathlessly awaiting our outing Saturday and crossing my fingers against any more unpleasant 'weather'.

  16. Could it be just a little overactive imagination...or am I sadly deluded that Santa isn't real?
Nothing like a blast of hard slog to forget the impending house sale... well probably not but good try..
I shall keep fingers toes and eyes crossed for you.

  23. Love your popcorn garland - reminds me of a raspberry color cotton summer top I made back in the day...loved it - loved making that popcorn stitch. Now I want to go in the attic and find the pattern so I can knit the garland.....see what you started. mmmm might be simpler if you jotted down the pattern - I will check your site to see. Finger toes and eyes crossed.
