my in-laws are staying for the week. it is always great excitement for the kids as we live so far away from family and one of the best things about it is, we stop doing all the "daily grind" things at the weekend ( like homework, cleaning, mowing the field out the back etc) and take time to go out and about...
today, saw us pack up a picnic and head north on a mini road trip, the further we headed the wetter it got, but that didn't dampen my spirits because i knew at the end of our trail were some gleaming antique malls.
first we drove into Anacortes, a town on the coast with a very picturesque old town. first stop 'days gone by' antique mall, where i found some retro tablecloths and wonderful bits of old lace and doilies...we then headed up to the view point that looks all across the port and town. by now the rain was setting in, so in total British style we picnicked in the car...
next we headed to La Conner, a very pretty town but quite touristy, i managed to fit in two more stops in antique malls, before everyone in the car started complaining and refusing to go near another one. on the way back i counted two airstream trailers and at least eight houses with land that i could easily live in forever...
well that's it, i shall keep my promise, but i don't know for how long...
